Forum - How Important is History

This forum costs ~$1/day to run. Ads do not recoup the cost, so we're looking at moving to our own solution. The vendor that hosts this forum does not allow for data export, which means if we switch we will lose all the old data. How important is the history to you?

Are we allowed to extract the data ourselves? I can do this easy.

Ditch the CupGirls and invest in our series. The forum is an important resource for it.

No. It's their way of keeping you from leaving.

The Cup Girls are paid out of pocket, not by the Series.

If it's that important, would you like to invest in it? If we subtract Google Adsense from the cost of running, a check for $200 will pay for the forums for all of 2010.

Chris if you move to your own solution would that allow the site to highlight 'unread' post for us? I know that it is a small item but would make the site much more user friendly and I would vote for it.

Yep. It's a link in top right called "View new posts".

Another thing we will gain is the ability to include attachments. Currently this ability is very limited here, because it's a hosted solution, but if we move I can partition any of the 300GB we have to the forums. This means people can upload photos (within reason) for use in context.
